A BCM Budget for Life Client Shares Her Family Money Story - As a Poem

17 December 2025

BCM Georgia envisions a future where every family has a safe home, children can learn without interruption, and communities are stronger through increased stability and opportunity. Our work extends beyond immediate crisis assistance. It is an investment in the strength of children, the resilience of families, and the health of entire communities, paving the way for a brighter future.

Our Budget for Life Program directly addresses the needs of vulnerable families, working alongside them as they learn to budget, pay down debt, and establish lifelong habits that lead to financial security. Read the poem from Marion* one of BCM's Budget for Life clients

From Stress to Strength: My Money Story

I used to stretch a dollar like it had wings, Praying it would fly me past overdue things.

Bills stacked like bricks I couldn't lift, Paychecks gone like it was a vanishing gift.

Some nights I cried in the quiet of debt, Chasing peace I hadn't found just yet.

I gave what I had, I gave what I could- Still feeling like it was never quite that good.

But then came a shift, a door opened wide, A class that taught me to look deep far inside.

Not just at dollars, not just at cents- But at worth, wisdom, and my OWN common sense.

They taught me that budgeting wasn't a chain, It was the key to freedom, the aspirin to pain.

That managing money isn't just math- It's healing your home, and changing your path.

I met myself in spreadsheets and goals, Reclaiming the parts my debt tried to control.

Now I save with purpose, I spend with care- I'm building a future i can pass to my kids.

For them I show what strength looks like, with groceries in our fridge and our lights on at night,

With Dreams that no longer feel out of reach

Thanks to BCM's guidance and lessons they continuously teach

So here I stand proud and renewed, with budgeting skills and a better attitude

I'm not who I was, I'm so much more, Finally walking in my truth I no longer ignore

Because I've come far and I'm still going, with steady steps and seeds I'm sewing

This class gave me more than finance or plans, it gave me back hope forever held in my hands.
